It has to be fitting that my first blog, will be about my first wedding party! It was an absolutely gorgeous morning. I was up incredibly early, unable to sleep the night before because I kept waking up having nightmares that I was going to be late to my first wedding gig. I finally got out of bed around 5am and crawled my way to my bathroom. After putting the finishing touches on my hair and spraying it with about five pounds of hairspray I felt ready to take on the day, hair tactfully in place. Around 6:30 I had the car packed up and was on my way to my first paid wedding job. I couldn’t believe it!! I was nervous and excited, what an amazing feeling to be a part of someone’s special day!
I arrived at the Marine Corps Hotel aboard US Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and found my way to the bridal suite. There I transformed two bridesmaids hair into curly locks before the bride arrived with her hair done. It was absolutely stunning!
We began her application by prepping her skin with Temptu’s oil control primer on her T-zone, and then mixed Jane Iredale’s primer with Temptu’s primer for the rest of the face. I used the Temptu color wheel to correct the slight redness in her cheeks before applying the tiniest bit of Temptu concealer under the eyes and around the nose. We custom mixed her airbrush color and began airbrushing her foundation. Once her foundation was set we applied a custom mixed Temptu blush, I then applied Temptu’s pink pearl as her highlighter and used a dash of Temptu’s contour medium with contour light to contour the cheeks and nose. I followed this with Naked’s eyelid primer in Sin which I had never worked with before, it gave the most beautiful color and shimmer to her lids that we joked about her being all done with just a splash of lashes! I pulled out Jane Iredale’s Supernova eyeshadow along with Urban Decay’s Naked3 palette. I mixed and blended colors until her eyes glimmered to perfection. We then lined with Loreal’s 24 hour gel liner before adding two coats of Loreal’s waterproof Voluminous mascara. After her mascara had dried I used Ardelle’s individual lashes in both medium black and short black and applied them in a fan shape doubling up on the outer corner to give her that extra oomph factor. We finished with a nude liner from MAC cosmetics and a coral shimmer gloss from Sephora.
After finishing the bride Bailey’s makeup it was time for some of those getting dressed photos. You know the one’s I’m talking about, where the bride is all giggles as her maids help shimmy her into her dress. This is when I first met Sophie Mae and Trisha Meteer from StylishDetails.com. They are a powerhouse duo that teamed up and created an all inclusive wedding styling and photography business, with over 30 weddings a year, it’s no wonder these ladies are in high demand! Their skills shown through as they immediately started transforming the Bridal Suite into something out of Vogue-Bridal Edition for Bailey’s photos.
After we finished with the preliminary photos Bailey was whisked to the ceremony location to do first look pictures with her soon to be husband while I finished up the bridal party. I did two more full face makeups for the maid of honor and one brides maid, and then I made the mother of the bride take a seat to relax for a moment while I brightened her up for what was to be an unforgettable day.
